AJWS-AVODAH Walking Tour

Session 2 of 2

O! Multitudes! Three Centuries of Domestic Architecture on the Lower East Side

Our guide from the Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy will lead us on an exploration of housing as the history of NYC. Crank up your imagination, strap on comfortable shoes, and walk from the edge of Chinatown to Corlear's Hook. We will explore housing architecture on the LES from the Federal era to today's expensive condos & co-ops. Walk the streets immortalized by activist/photographer Jacob Riis, and hear tales of the immigrants he championed. Following the tour, we will learn about contemporary housing issues from tour co-sponsor Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ).

Tour takes about 3 to 3 ½ Hours

Cost: $8 (AJWS-AVODAH is subsidizing the remainder of the cost)
