Study Tours

Don't just travel. Encounter.

AJWS Study Tours offer a rare opportunity for unique international travel with leaders of the global social justice movement. Ruth Messinger and AJWS scholars lead one- to two-week trips to Africa, Asia and the Americas that go beyond the bounds of traditional tourism. The architectural and historical highlights of each locale are just the prologue to a deep exploration of the challenges facing people in the developing world and the passion that drives grassroots change.

On excursions that traverse urban and rural landscapes, groups meet HIV/AIDS activists educating at-risk populations in urban slums, teachers educating children about human rights in rural villages and advocates working to empower women and girls. The program explores the history, culture and politics of the region through intimate conversations with leading politicians, journalists, academics and elected officials.

An AJWS travel experience is like no-other; it weds tourism with education, sightseeing with connection. It engenders a deep understanding of the projects AJWS supports to promote human rights, equality and social justice for all people, a commitment to tikkun olam in its most elemental form.
