Eligibility
Applicants to AJWS Volunteer Corps should have at least several years of work experience; many past and current volunteers are advanced professionals in their fields. If you are a recent college graduate, please contact AJWS staff to discuss the most appropriate AJWS service program for you.
Before applying, we suggest that you consider the following questions:
- Do you have a set of professional skills in one or more of the areas listed below?
- Organizational Development
- Fundraising
- Finance and Administration
- Communications/Public Relations
- Computer Technology
- Small Business
- Social Work
- Health Care
- Mental Health
- Public Health and HIV/AIDS
- Education
- Law and Advocacy
- Community Organizing

- Do you have experience training others?
- Have you traveled or lived in the developing world?
- Would you be comfortable traveling by yourself and living on your own in the developing world?
- Do you have experience working in a culture different from your own?
- Are you comfortable working in an environment in which there is a high level of ambiguity and uncertainty?
- Are you fluent in English (for placements in Asia or Africa) or Spanish (for placements in the Americas)?
- Are you available to volunteer for at least two months?
- Are you Jewish?

If you are are a recent college graduate or young professional, please also refer to AJWS World Partners Fellowship. World Partners Fellows volunteer at NGOs for nine months, live independently in a developing country and participate in a peer-learning network. Fellows learn about human rights in an international context, explore the Jewish values that motivate their work and gain skills to prepare their entrance into careers dedicated to social justice.
