Application Process

AJWS assesses an applicant's compatibility with our program through a written application, interview and references.

India - January 2009 through October 2009: Applications closed

Central America - September 2009 through July 2010: January 15, 2009 (application will be available in September 2008)

  1. The applicant submits an application.
  2. The applicant sends out reference forms to three references. The applicant must collect the completed reference forms (in sealed envelopes with referee’s signature across the seal) and return them all to AJWS before the application deadline.
  3. Selected applicants participate in an informational session to learn more about the program.
  4. A fellowship selection committee interviews selected applicants by telephone or in person if possible. Two interviews may be required.
  5. AJWS staff notifies applicants of their status. Accepted applicants have two weeks to decide whether to accept or decline the invitation. Some applicants may be selected as alternates.
