Volunteer Placement

Fellows are placed for nine months as full-time volunteers with AJWS partner NGOs based on their interests, skills and the needs of NGOs. AJWS partners with NGOs working at the intersection of international development and human rights, addressing issues such as women’s empowerment, civil society building, economic development, public health, education and sustainable agriculture.

Fellows may be placed in a location with other fellows or in a location where no other fellows are serving. Applicants may express a preference in this regard. Fellows from all locations gather for group programming throughout their assignments.

Volunteer placements focus on providing NGOs with direct services while seeking to support the long-term development of the organizations. Fellows are matched with NGOs after acceptance to the fellowship.
