HST was founded in 1994 to promote the sustainable development of marginalized populations whose socio-economic status does not meet their basic needs. The organization works with Mayan peasants to provide education about environmental sustainability and food self-sufficiency, to advance the integration of women in the economy and to strengthen the capacity of grassroots groups.

To improve family nutrition and income for 250 Mayan women through the provision of agricultural products and training in agro-ecological techniques.
