AIDESEP was established in 1980 to defend and promote the rights of the indigenous peoples of the Peruvian Amazon. Representing 1,400 indigenous communities, AIDESEP’s principal objectives include: pursuing legal title of indigenous territories; developing opportunities for bi-lingual and bi-cultural education; improving health within the indigenous population; and promoting gender equality
