Founded in 2003, Grassroots Foundation was established to serve the needs of disadvantaged women and children in the state of Tamil Nadu. Since the tsunami, their work has centered more specifically on coastal communities, with a focus on empowering Dalit fisherwomen who have been left out of the relief and reconstruction process.
