The Associate Director for the Young Leadership Program will manage the creation and implementation of a program aimed at engaging the next generation of philanthropists in the mission and work of American Jewish World Service (AJWS). Working closely with the Vice President for Development and Communications and other members of the Development Department, the Associate Director will be responsible for identifying a cadre of future philanthropists who will serve as the leadership of the “next generation” program. Other responsibilities will include the development and cultivation of prospects in their 20s to early 40s, coordinating, designing and implementing strategies for the stewardship and solicitation of $1,000+ gifts, managing a portfolio of individual donors, and increasing visibility and support for AJWS among young philanthropists in the New York metropolitan area, San Francisco, and ultimately nationally.

The program will create a community of like-minded young philanthropists and future leaders of AJWS who are committed to global citizenship and will engage them through educational programs, seminars, retreats and travel to the developing world. The Associate Director will utilize cutting edge technology to build a community and promote a culture committed to philanthropy and advocacy for global social justice.

• B.A. or graduate degree;
• Experience in fundraising, leadership development, community building and outreach;
• Strong commitment to the mission of AJWS;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Superior professional presentation and interpersonal skills;
• Must be visionary, energetic and entrepreneurial;
• Computer literate: Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook; database knowledge a plus;
• Highly organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated; and
• Ability to work independently while also supporting a team.
