Administrative Coordinator, Education Department
Job Description
AJWS is seeking a highly organized and energetic Administrative Coordinator to become an integral member of the Education Department. S/he will support the team in developing educational materials and curriculum to help American Jews explore issues of international justice in creative and provocative ways. Reporting to the Director of Education, the Administrative Coordinator will handle a variety of functions including general administrative support, basic editing and proofreading, research and marketing. The individual will also have the opportunity to do some content development. This is a great opportunity for an individual interested in gaining tremendous insight into the workings of a fast-paced Education department in a growing nonprofit organization.
Responsibilities
- Handle all departmental communications and administrative tasks including, but not limited to: coordinating the Department's relations with outside vendors (e.g. printing companies), responding to requests for information and materials from synagogues and Jewish communal institutions, managing the printing, assembly, and distribution of materials for the Department, and monitoring consultant payments and other business operations.
- Proofread and edit a large volume of written work, including articles, divrei torah, and curriculum materials.
- Conduct research support to the Department on issues ranging from international development to Jewish text.
- Manage the development of some educational and curricular materials, for example, a catalogue of country and NGO profiles in the regions where AJWS works.
- Work with Department staff to develop and manage a program marketing and evaluation process to disseminate educational materials to American Jewish constituencies and assess and learn from the implementation of various educational products.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of relevant work experience;
- Bachelors Degree
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills required
- Strong commitment to the mission of AJWS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated.
- Proven excellence in editing and proofreading.
- Flexible work style with the ability to work under tight deadlines and shifting priorities
- Superior professional presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (database knowledge a plus).
- Ability to work independently while also supporting a team.
