American Jewish World Service (AJWS) is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a dynamic and fast paced finance department. Primary responsibilities of the Senior Accountant will include professional accounting and maintaining the centralized revenue and expenditure accounts of the organization. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and have the ability to work both independently as well as be an integral member of the finance team.

• Ensure financial reporting systems are up to date and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and audit requirements;
• Prepare monthly financial reports and various related statements that reflect the organization’s financial position;
• Assist in the formulation of the department’s (or organization’s) budget in compliance with applicable budget policy and guidelines;
• Coordinate the completion of periodic financial statements;
• Perform cash management function by reconciling cash and investments with the investment institutions;
• Supervise the departmental accounting function and record-keeping;
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
  

• BA/BS in Accounting required;
• Minimum 5-7 years prior accounting experience required;
• Non-profit experience a plus;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong working knowledge of Excel and Word required;
• Knowledge of Fund EZ and MIP preferred;
• Motivated self-starter capable of working independently
  Detail-oriented and well-organized.
